Guidance from the SAC
2026 Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting
Recommendations
- We recommend finalizing the USTUR mission statement and completing the revision of the brochure.
- USTUR compared results for one dataset of nine using Excel against Python estimates. Define the final endpoint for this project and who will have access to the data.
- We recommend actively pursuing the instrumentation and the necessary personnel/training for accomplishing the goal of analyzing beryllium and other potential elements that could be of interest to stakeholders.
- We recommend exploring collaboration for extracting/digitizing data from hardcopy medical records such as needed for both the USTUR and the Marshall Islands’ cohort.
- Before further pursuing efforts related to outcome misclassifications we recommend careful considerations of the applicability in light of limited resources.
- We recommend acknowledging uncertainties and assumptions in all publications and presentations.
- We recommend including quality control samples for all external analyses.
- We recommend exploring the potential to perform analysis at cellular level.
- We recommend presenting quality control charts data at the 2027 SAC meeting.
- We recognize the complexity of dosimetry modeling. We recommend seeking external statistical and other expertise, e.g. within WSU, for continued efforts
