Guidance from the SAC

2010 Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting

Each year the SAC provides recommendations to the USTUR faculty and staff. The recommendations provided at the 2010 meeting were:

  1. Maintain the focus on research. The new director should be given the opportunity to continue the reputation of the Registries.
  2. Goals for the USTUR need to maintain a focus that is stimulating to the staff.
  3. Focus not only on modeling dose and uptake, but recommendations on limits and controls.
  4. Expeditiously get data out and make it available.
  5. Expand the scope of the Registries. Database expansion to Be/Asbestos.
  6. Use the USTUR data to study synergistic effects.
  7. Radiochemistry must continue at the rate that budgets allow.
  8. Though priorities should be maintained, donations should be encouraged.
  9. Efforts should be made to address final objectives for the Program.
  10. Long-term storage of samples.
  11. Plan to maintain a tissue bank.
