Ms. Stacey McCord represented the USTUR at the 2011 Annual Meeting of the European Radiation Dosimetry Group (EURADOS), Prague, Czech Republic, February 7-9, 2011. Ms. McCord participated in the Working Group 7 (WG7) on “Internal Dosimetry” and attended the Winter School on “Radiation Protection for Medical Staff.” She gave a presentation to WG7 titled, “Microdistribution and Long-Term Retention of 239Pu(NO3)4 in the Respiratory Tract: A progress report.”
Microdistribution and long-term retention of 239Pu(NO3)4 in the respiratory tract: A progress report
This presentation describes the progress that has been made by PNNL master’s student, Mr. Chris Nielsen, and PNNL scientist, Dr. Xihai Wang, on determining the long-term retention of plutonium nitrate in USTUR inhalation case 0269. It includes nearly 20 photographs of lung pathology slides that have been stained using the following protocols: H&E, Elastic Van Giesen, Trichrome (for collagen), and TUNEL (for apoptosis).
